The Challenge

Abdel’s MSc thesis proposed a decision support system combining blockchain and explainable AI (XAI) for cyber threat detection in cloud computing, two genuinely different fields, distributed systems and interpretable machine learning, that needed a specific technical reason to be combined rather than a fashionable pairing that sounded good in a title.

The Outcome

Working through Stage 03 and Stage 04, the thesis was anchored against a directly comparable published paper on blockchain and explainable AI for enhanced decision making, with the exact gap it closed, explainability inside a blockchain secured detection pipeline, stated early and referenced consistently through every later chapter rather than assumed. The completed thesis carried the proposed system through to a defended technical contribution, submitted to the University of London’s MSc Computer Science programme.
