We mentor students from age 6 through PhD level. Here is exactly how a mentorship for a minor works, and what a parent can expect at every stage.
A parent or guardian is part of every mentorship for a minor.
Where a student is under 18, we require a parent or guardian's contact details at intake, and we keep that parent informed of progress throughout the mentorship. A minor is never onboarded without a named adult attached to the case.
Every conversation happens on a documented channel.
Mentorship communication runs through the channels stated on this site: WhatsApp, email, and the structured intake process. We do not conduct mentorship through undocumented personal contact, and a parent is entitled to see the record of that communication on request.
Mentors work under our Research Integrity Framework.
Every mentor operates under Inkspire's professional conduct guidelines, which apply without exception when the student is a minor. Confidentiality is institutional, not left to an individual mentor's discretion.
A parent can ask for a progress update at any time.
You do not need to wait for a scheduled check in. Message us on WhatsApp or email at any point and we will provide a summary of where the mentorship stands.
A higher bar for our youngest students.
For Juniors, ages 6 to 11, the standard above is a floor, not a ceiling. Every session runs with a named parent or guardian aware of the schedule in advance. There are no one to one unsupervised sessions with this age group without a second adult aware in real time. There is no comparative ranking between children, ever. Photography or sharing of a child's work requires its own separate, explicit written consent, on top of the standing consent given at intake.
